Chocolate Granola

Drew and I have been obsessed lately with Bear Naked chocolate granola. It's delicious... but not exactly cheap. Drew decided to experiment in making our own chocolate granola... and it is delicious! 


Here's how:

Ingredients:
  • 4 cups rolled oats
  • 1/2 cup shredded coconut
  • 1/3 cup cocoa powder
  • 1/4 cup chocolate liqueur
  • 8 tablespoons of melted butter
  • 1/3 cup honey
  • a couple handfuls of mini chocolate chips (real specific, right?)
Directions: 


  • Preheat the oven to 300 degrees (Fahrenheit... do ovens some place measure in Celsius? I never thought of it, but some places measure their outdoor temps in Celsius)
  • Mix all the ingredients in a bowl until well mixed, it will be sticky
  • Line a baking pan with one of those cool silicone baking sheets or waxed paper

  • Spread out the granola into a thin, even layer. At this point, Drew likes to add some more mini chocolate chips
  • Bake the granola for 30-40 minutes until it smells really strong. Check it often because the cocoa powder can burn easily. The first time we made it, I think we started to burn it. Some of it tasted a little burnt, but it was still really good. If you're not sure if it's done, pull it out and let it cool. If it's crispy when cool, then it's ready. If not, put it back in for a little bit longer

  • If you want, you can add dried fruit, nuts, more coconut... whatever you want! 
  • Eat. Try to stop yourself from eating it all in one setting... it's tough, trust me.
