A new series: The Breastfeeding Diaries

I was chatting on Twitter last week with Jess and Katie about breastfeeding experiences when I made a comment about being able to write a book about all the things I had learned about breastfeeding from my own experiences and from all the things that went wrong (especially in the beginning). They both said I should do a blog series on the subject. While I'm no expert in the field, I realized that most moms, whether breastfeeding novices or seasoned vets, don't necessarily want to read all the statistics and research. They want to hear from moms who have been there. I know for myself, the best things I learned about breastfeeding didn't come from the lactation consultants. While they were great, it was the moms I met with in my weekly breastfeeding group when Fynn was just weeks old that really taught me a lot.

So, I bring to you;

Every week I plan to write a post about some aspect of breastfeeding. Anything I can think of, any suggestions I get, all of it. I started making a list of all the topics I could cover and was blown away by all there is to think about when it comes to this natural form of feeding your child. But I don't want this to be all me. While I've learned a lot in my 12+ months of nursing Fynn, I'm far from knowing it all. We've all had different experiences and learned different things when it comes to nursing.

Here's where you come in. Are you or have you been a breastfeeding mama? Have a story you want to share? Advice you want to give? Just want to vent about how hard it is? I'd love to have you guest post in the series. Just send me an e-mail at I'd love to get as many moms involved as possible to make this series as meaningful as possible.
