Thursday Thoughts

  • I'm working this week. Okay, kinda working... I'm working half days Monday through Thursday... and it stinks. After two weeks of "vacation" (well kinda, I had a half day workshop each week) the reality of getting up and out of the house, Fynn to daycare and to work on time? Rather daunting. I can't wait until these 4 weeks of work are over and I can enjoy my three and a half weeks of real summer vacation before school starts again
  • Why is it that Fynn will automatically wake up about an hour before my alarm goes off? It's like she knows.
  • I realized the other day that I never read books anymore. I used to sit down with a good book every chance I got. Now when I have a few moments I'm either blogging, reading blogs, or cleaning. I really need to get back in the habit. Any one have some good summer reads to suggest? I need some ideas.
  • Tonight I'm starting a new sleep "training" technique with Fynn. While crying it out has done wonders for her sleep habits, and reduced us to only 1-2 night wakings, enough is enough. She's a year old now and really needs to sleep through the night. More then that, I need to sleep through the night. I'm not functioning well with chronic sleep deprivation. I'll have to write a whole post on the methods used and their (hopefully!) success after we've given it a few nights.
  • I know I tend to speed, but lately it seems like I always end up behind really slow drivers. Monday I ended up behind some old lady going 25... in a 40 mph zone. WHAT?!?
  • Who is watching Big Brother? I'm loving how snarky Amanda is, really hating Aaryn (what a B****) and I'm not sure how I feel about Elissa. I like Spencer, but you don't see him much, and I'm pretty sure Andy is actually Ron Weasley. What do other people thing of this years cast?

  1. I haven't watched Big Brother much this season but I watched all of last season because I'm friends with Shane (went to college with him). Erin has been watching this season though. I haven't read a book in a while either but I love the Kindle app on my iphone.

  2. Mindy Kaling's book - Is Everyone Hanging Out Without Me? (And Other Concerns)-- That's a good book! I read the Amanda Knox book and that was interesting too. And Big Brother... this is how I feel... I really like Elissa. I hate Jeremey and Aaryn and I'm totally rooting against them always. And yeah Andy is Ron Weasley... I dont get his primary color shirt with the pocket at all.

  4. I used to read a lot more too, but now I spend most of my spare time blogging also. One thing I do to get more "reads" in is to listen to books on audio when possible. The next book I plan to read is Curtis Sittenfield's new book.
We Ferberized our oldest and our youngest still needs to be tickled to sleep at almost 7. I think it depends on the kid. You need to do what works best for your family. Keep in mind that most kids at that age still won't sleep through the night. The will wake up, they just need to learn to self sooth. One of mine did, the other didn't. Good luck!

found you through the Link Up, would love it if you came to my place for a visit too!

  6. Also working on the sleeping through the night thing (my kiddo is 10 mos). The sad thing is that even when he sleeps through, I still wake up cause I'm used to it. *sigh* Best of luck!
