Top Ten Things I love about my husband

I know I rag on Drew a lot, but he really is a great guy. After 10 1/2 years together it's easy to notice all the obnoxious things about him. But every day I'm reminded of just how good he is to me, and now to his daughter too. Here are the top ten things I love about him:

1) He is such a good Daddy. I love watching him with his little girl. Especially knowing how he was with kids before she was born (read: deer in the headlights). It melts my heart every day to see him snuggle her, play with her, and take care of her. I love seeing her eyes light up when he walks into the room and the ease with with he interacts with her.

2) He knows I need my beauty rest. I'm a bear when I'm tired... so basically I've been a bear since I was about 5 months pregnant. He's been great since Fynn was born and will always let me get an extra couple hours of sleep on the weekends if it's at all possible. I can't tell you what that does for me. I feel so much better after that extra sleep.

3) He cooks. I'm talking makes 95% of our meals cooks. He's great at it, enjoys it (for the most part) and that makes me really happy since I struggle to make anything that doesn't come from a box. If I were in charge of the meals around here, it would be mac & cheese, frozen pizza and grilled cheese sandwiches every night.

4) He tells me all the time how beautiful he thinks I am. After having a baby and being sleep deprived for more then a year and a half, that means the world to me. Through weight loss and gains, long nights, bad style choices, and a myriad of other less then flattering looks, he continues to tell me how attractive he finds me.

5) He works hard. He puts in his hours at work and provides well for our family. But that's not enough for him. In the winter he plows and year round he takes on side jobs such as remodeling and other odd jobs to make more money (well, he kinda likes it too). He has a great work ethic and is always working his butt of. I really hope Fynn learns his work ethic and becomes as motivated as he is.

6) He puts up with my crazy. I am my own special brand of nuts all some of the time. Even when I'm being irrational or downright stupid, he puts up with me and tries to be as patient as possible. I don't know how he's managed to put up with me for the past 10 1/2 years, but I'm so glad that he has.

7) He does sweet little random things for me... like bringing home a DD iced tea after he's been out somewhere or taking Fynn for awhile after I've had a rough day with her. Those little things are the things that make me melt.

8) He listens to all my random crap that really isn't all that interesting. I tell him all the time about what my blog friends have written or ramble on about teaching, random facts I've discovered or why I like my new nail polish. Does he really care? Probably not. But he makes it a point to listen and at least act interested.

9) He's hilarious. Granted, most of his humor is highly inappropriate, but this guy can keep me in stitches all day every day. One of his favorite things to do is make up inappropriate lyrics to the songs on Fynn's toys. It kills me... but he should probably stop doing in it front of her. Pretty soon she's going to have some interesting songs to be singing.

10) He's always there for me. Always. No matter what is going on in my life or decisions that have to be made, he supports me in it. Having a baby with him solidified my security in knowing that he'll always be there for me. When I was in labor, he was there encouraging me, rubbing my back and helping me through each contraction. I'm especially grateful for his support when it comes to breastfeeding Fynn. If it weren't for me, we wouldn't have made it past that first week. I also greatly appreciate his support when it comes to family drama or friend issues. No matter what happens, I know he has my back.

What are the things you love most about your significant other?

  1. What a great husband! That's too cute!

  2. New follower here! Your hubby seems like such a sweet guy/daddy. You've probably written about y'alls "story", but how'd y'all meet? xoxo-Kristen Alexis

  3. When I read these, I kept saying to myself, "Oh yea mine too!" Except being funny... he just THINKS he's funny. :)

  4. I am so behind in blog reading so I'm just now seeing this. What a great post!!! He sounds a lot like Ronnie - especially with the cooking and listening to my uninteresting self! haha
