Our Wedding

To read about how Drew and I met and fell in love, start here.

The day before the wedding the girls and I got our nails done, and then rushed to get ready for the rehearsal dinner. We went to the ceremony site with our wedding coordinator and family friend/wedding officiant Bill. We ran through the ceremony, looked at the reception room to nail out last minute details and then had an amazing dinner at an ocean-front restaurant. My little sister/MOH gave a sweet speech about what an amazing couple we were and how Drew was my "knight in shining armor". That night I looked around at my family, soon-to-be in-laws and my three best friends and realized just how lucky we were.

That night, we stayed up late finishing our programs, favors, and name tags. Of course I sobbed around 11 as I was convinced we would never get it done. Good-old Drew was able to calm me down and reassure me that our wedding was going to be perfect. Thank God for him and his patience. Our whole life together he has always been able to bring me out of panic mode and calm me down, no matter the situation. Anyway, back to our wedding day:

The morning of I woke up thinking "wow, I'm getting married today... shouldn't I feel different?" The girls and I went to a local salon and got our hair done, and I got my make up done, let me just say we were looking pretty hot! That afternoon I took a nap (hey, I love a good nap!) while the girls watched 27 Dresses (and decided they NEEDED to watch Drew's face while I walked down the aisle).

Getting zipped in
It was a beautiful early-summer day for an outdoor wedding... until it started raining. Enter panic mode! The wedding coordinator called me, I cried and begged her to wait and see if things cleared up. The rain was at just the right time so the girls and I couldn't have our pictures taken outside (somehow the boys managed to get theirs in outdoors!)

Getting there
Walking down the aisle
Suddenly the limo was there, and it was "time to lock and load" (in the words of my father). We made it to the site, snuck in (mostly) unseen, and chilled out for a bit in the dressing room. Abby had a freak-out moment when her flowers got the front of her dress wet, but we managed to fix it right as our wedding coordinator came in to hurry us out. I'll be honest, when she said "It's time to go, now!" my stomach did a little flip-flop... it was time? ALREADY? WHAT!?!?!?! Um... okay? I had a little heart attack as we walked down the hall towards the exit. I clung to my dad and begged him not to let me trip as the girls headed out down the aisle. In no time at all it was my turn... I took a deep breath and walked out.

Love my dad's face
kiss kiss
From there a lot of it is a blur. I know we made it down the aisle (I even managed to smile!) My dad was super awkward and kissed Drew as he handed me off. We held hands, stumbled over our lines (Drew, you were supposed to pledge your love and faithfulness... not your love and faith!) and in about 20 minutes flat we were husband and wife (we aren't ones for dragging things out)

We got married at a golf club

We smiled pretty for the pictures, entered to applause and SOMEHOW made it through that super-awkward first-dance while everyone stared at us and clicked their glasses to make us kiss (sidenote: Drew DOES NOT do PDA's... EVER, but I got a few kisses that day, I thought he was going to pass out).

It was an amazing day spent with our families and friends, we couldn't have asked for a better wedding. The next day we drove to Boston to catch our flight to the Dominican Republic where we sent on the beach and at the pool in beautiful, sunny Punta Canta. What's next? Oh yeah, we got a puppy!
